A member of the Moose Factory Northern store team has been honored for his work excellence.

Each year, The North West Company recognizes outstanding individuals in the company who demonstrate customer and community values embedded in the company. This year, Waylon Guevremont was awarded for his workplace passion.

While he has acquired other unofficial names around the store, including “Mr. Fix It,” Waylon’s official title is Department Manager of Fresh. His passion encompasses all aspects of his store’s operations. It’s not uncommon to see Waylon stocking produce at 4pm, then crawling through the compressor room to change fan blades by 6pm. There have even been times when he would need to be sent home for coming in to work on his day off.

Waylon’s passion has made a profound impact in the community, and he has become well-respected in Moose Factory and surrounding communities.

“His purpose in the community and Moose Cree First Nation is defined by his passion, and is a positive example for all,” says Gilbert Cheechoo, a Band Councillor of Moose Cree Nation. “We can never take Waylon for granted, and people like Waylon, who make life easier and our shopping experience enjoyable.”

The North West Company held a ceremony in Winnipeg on January 29 to honour Waylon and the many others who have displayed the core values of North West within their work. Watch for more stories about the recipients’ dedication in future issues of The North West eNewsletter.
