The Canadian Red Cross has awarded The North West Company with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of 5 years of continuous support.

Donations from The North West Company have enabled the Canadian Red Cross to provide essential aid to communities where large scale disasters occur, such as the wildfires that displaced thousands of people from their homes in northern Manitoba in 2017.

Viginia Monias was forced to leave her home community and stay at an emergency shelter in Winnipeg when the fires hit. After the Canadian Red Cross coordinated her transportation, she had a deep sense of relief.

“Being safe here is the main thing,” said Monias at the time. Ronan Ryan, Chief Marketing and Development Officer at the Canadian Red Cross, expressed his appreciation to The North West Company in a letter, explaining how the donated funds have impacted northern communities in a significant way.

“Your support made it possible for the Red Cross to help individuals and families who were uprooted from their homes when wildfires blazed through their communities,” Ronan wrote.

The North West Company is dedicated to making a difference in the communities it serves. Providing support to organizations like the Canadian Red Cross is one of the ways the company will continue to show its commitment.
