Sixteen-year-old Stevie Kasudluak says participating in the Healthy Horizons Foundation 2018 Destination Marathon in December changed his life.

Stevie is from Quaqtaq, a northern village in Quebec with a population of only 400 people. He was one of more than 40 runners from across Canada – and one of three from Quaqtaq – to participate in Grand Cayman for the destination marathon, an annual fundraising initiative and active living event put on by the Healthy Horizons Foundation, held at a different international location every year.

“This literally changed my life. It’s so amazing,” Stevie said about the event and training for it beforehand.  “I didn’t even work out a lot back home. This year I changed a lot. I run almost every day now.”

Stevie also admits that he rarely used to drink water, but now does every day.

If Stevie was talking to someone considering competing in an upcoming marathon like this one, he says he would tell them “not to be afraid, to achieve their goals, and to have fun.”
