Joy, excitement and celebration filled the air at the official grand opening of Garden Hill’s Northern store. People from across the community gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony which included musical entertainment, free cake, prizes and giveaways.

Community members were not disappointed as they walked down the aisles for the very first time. The new store features 12,010 square feet of selling space, and an expanded assortment of products and service offerings. The introduction of a Tim Hortons, KFC and full-serve hot deli now offers a great variety of meal options for the customer on the go. The store also features an expanded selection of fresh produce.

The opening of the new store marked an important milestone for both Northern and Garden Hill. It will provide a much more convenient and accessible shopping experience for community members. Before the store was opened, a typical shopping trip involved traveling to nearby Stevenson Island and transporting groceries by boat in the summer months.

“Having a Northern store right here in Garden Hill will make grocery shopping much more convenient for families,” said Chief Dino Flett. “I’m glad that we were able to work together with The North West Company to help meet the needs of our community members.”

“The opening of this store has been long anticipated by Garden Hill and The North West Company alike,” says Michael Beaulieu, Vice-President, Sales & Operations at The North West Company. “It has been a privilege to work with the chief and council to ensure the needs of community members are met.”
